What we do.

How Community Culture Creates Impact

At Community Culture, we take a hands-on approach to strengthening Monroe County’s food system by working directly with local partners to increase food access. Through innovative growing programs, we empower individuals and communities to cultivate fresh, nutritious food while supporting those in need.

Sponsored Allotment Spaces

We provide sponsored garden allotments—approximately 1,400 sq. ft. of fertile growing space—to community members in Monroe County. Inspired by European garden allotments, this initiative fosters inclusivity, shared knowledge, and community-building.

  • Free of charge after a simple application

  • Teams of 4+ people collaborate to grow food

  • 10-20% of the space grows food requested by our nonprofit food partners

  • The rest can be used however growers choose—for personal use, donation, or even fundraising

These spaces empower individuals to grow food for their families and communities while ensuring a steady supply of fresh produce for those in need.

Satellite Farms

We partner with Monroe County residents who have available land and are willing to dedicate space to growing food for local nonprofit food partners.

  • 90% of the harvest is donated to food relief efforts

  • 10% goes to the landowner for personal use

  • In many cases, landowners can receive a tax deduction for their donation

By tapping into underutilized land, we maximize local food production and create a direct pipeline of fresh, locally grown produce to food banks and other community organizations.

Why It Matters

Every seed planted through Community Culture strengthens our local food network, builds self-sufficiency, and ensures more people have access to healthy, homegrown food. Whether you're a gardener, a landowner, or someone who simply wants to help, your participation makes a real difference.
